MetaModule Plugins

When the 160+ built-in modules aren't enough, you can load additional modules as plugins. Over 1,500 modules already exist for third-party plugins like Bogaudio, Valley, ChowDSP, and NANO Modular, and that number keeps growing. You can browse and search them using the Module Finder tool. We also provide an SDK to help VCV Rack plugin developers easily convert their plugins into MetaModule plugins. The licensing terms are unrestrictive, allowing developers to distribute their plugins commercially or non-commercially as they wish.

Knob and Jack Mapping

MetaModule features 12 knobs that can be mapped to virtual knobs. Each physical knob can be mapped to up to 8 virtual knobs, with each mapping allowing different ranges and offsets. You can also save groups of mappings as “knob sets” and switch between them using the encoder. Furthermore, 8 inputs and 8 outputs can be mapped to the virtual module's jacks. Furthermore, since MetaModule is a USB MIDI host, MIDI CC, notes, gates, and other parameters can also be mapped to knobs and jacks.

Expansion Units

There are numerous ways to customize MetaModule. Using the Wi-Fi Expansion Unit allows wireless patch transfer from a computer. The upcoming Knob Expansion Unit adds 8 knobs, while the Button Expansion Unit adds buttons. The CV/Audio Expansion Unit adds high-resolution inputs and outputs, while the upcoming Gate I/O Expansion Unit will add gate jacks, TRS MIDI, and I2C. Expansion units for the MetaModule are scheduled for release sequentially in late 2025 and 2026.

Internal Specifications

Features 6 CV/Audio inputs, 2 Gate inputs, and 6 CV/Audio outputs. All CV/Audio jacks are 24-bit/48kHz DC-coupled with -10V to +10V specification. The USB-C jack supports MIDI devices and USB memory. Patches and plugins can be loaded from a USB drive or microSD card. Frequently used patches can be saved to the built-in flash memory.
The 4ms processor is more advanced than any processor used in the past and boasts top-tier performance among Eurorack processors. It achieves astonishingly fast startup times and latency.

Patch View displays patches with faceplates and cables; knobs, buttons, and lights animate in real time
Knob Set View simplifies display, showing only knobs mapped to the current knob set
Module View displays a single module, clearly listing each jack, knob, and control name
Mapping View allows detailed adjustment of knob mappings
Customize styles and visual settings to your preference
