V-Shape combines two modules into one: a wave twister and a distortion/wave folding module. Both sections of the module are analog designs and can be used independently or connected in series with normalization. This allows you to first twist the waveform and then apply distortion and wave folding.

The Wave Twister takes a sawtooth wave as input, for example, and shapes it into a triangle wave or a ramp wave via manual or external voltage control, generating a PWM-like sound relative to the sawtooth wave. It operates similarly with symmetrical waveforms like triangle or sine waves, also producing a PWM-like timbre.

It can generate waveform twisting effects from most waveforms (except square waves), regardless of whether they are symmetrical or asymmetrical. Under many conditions, the transfer function is not perfect, so different harmonics may also be generated. The offset control allows bias to be applied to the input waveform, enabling precise biasing near zero or offset adjustment to increase distortion and harmonics.

The second section of the V-Shape module is a distortion unit offering selectable soft clipping and hard clipping. Clipping amount is adjustable via the “Distort” control, either through front panel operation or an external control voltage. The distortion offset control adds or subtracts a bias voltage to the CV signal, extending the control range. Furthermore, it incorporates a single-stage, switchable wave folder usable with both soft-clipped and hard-clipped waveforms.
