Liberty Upright is a piano model of a historic Koch & Korselt upright piano, recorded using IK Multimedia's proprietary deep multi-sampling technology with a keystroke robot.
The piano on which it is based was built in 1915 in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) under Austrian rule.
We sampled this century-old piano twice.
The first time, we captured its truly antique tone, retaining its natural detuned state over the years.
The pleasantly soft damper gives the sound an almost natural reverb effect.
The second sample was restored by a master tuner and meticulously tuned.
Combining these two types of samples with Pianoverse's infinite effects allows for a more aggressive approach as a sound design tool.
The Liberty Upright was carefully recorded at IK's state-of-the-art studio in Modena, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
Sampling was performed using AKG 414s for close miking and a pair of DPAs for coincident microphones on the rear.
In addition to capturing the instrument's original sound, it also provides ideal material for processing with Pianoverse's deep effects.
Adjustable to suit the song and desired tone
Pianoverse offers detailed performance controls to help you find the optimal sound to suit the song and desired tone.
Adjust settings previously only possible with physical modeling, such as release, hammer noise, pedal noise, string resonance, lid opening and closing, and tone brightness. Velocity offset and curve adjustments are also available.
Advanced pedal techniques, such as half pedaling, catch pedaling, and una corda, are also supported.
Pianoverse delivers the optimal piano sound and playing feel for any genre, including classical, jazz, pop, and Latin.
A cutting-edge engine that maximizes expressive power
A full range of essential studio tools for sound shaping and mixing is also included.
The instrument and room microphone pairs each offer EQ and compression with multiple modes.
The final master channel features EQ, a VCA-style limiter, width controls for adjusting the stereo image, and a flip switch for switching between player and audience perspectives.
Powerful Creative Effects
In addition to the Spatial Generator, Pianoverse features 12 new creative effects.
These effects range from spatial effects to classic studio effects, and three can be used simultaneously. The effect slots consist of one send effect and two insert effects, and you can modulate the effect parameters of these three slots using four modulation sources (two envelopes and two LFOs). Combining effects and modulation allows for more aggressive sound design than is possible with other piano sound modules.
