Tape echo has long been beloved by musicians and engineers as an effect that adds a unique character to sounds. Among them, the Roland® RE-201 Space Echo™ is a special device that is essential to any discussion of tape echo. T-RackS Space Delay is a T-RackS plug-in for Mac/PC that recreates the Space Echo's warm, distinctive sound and easy-to-use controls.

Released in 1974, the RE-201 featured three playback heads, a variable-speed motor, and a spring reverb. By changing the combination and position of the playback heads, it was possible to switch between 12 different echo/reverb modes.

Its limitless possibilities, ease of use, and distinctive, musical, warm sound have led to it being used in the music of renowned artists around the world, from Bob Marley, Brian Eno, Pink Floyd, Portishead, Sublime, Sonic Youth, Randy Rhoads, and even Radiohead. It has been used in literally thousands of songs, regardless of genre or instrument, and even today there is a constant demand for a good-quality original.

T-RackS Space Delay incorporates the Dynamic Convolution Engine, the same modeling technology used in IK's Tape Machine Collection, which recreates the sound of a tape machine in software, to recreate the RE-201's sound in detail.
