Developed at Bell Labs, the vocoder has quietly laid a foundation in music culture since the 1970s,
and can be heard in the works of many artists, including Electric Light Orchestra, Imogen Heap, Daft Punk, Herbie Hancock, Kraftwerk, Beastie Boys, Laurie Anderson, Kanye West, and Mogwai.

Softube Vocoder combines vintage and modern workflows and features to create a vocal resynthesizer capable of vocoding a wide variety of musical material.
The six-voice carrier section offers four high-quality waveforms, chord transposition, and attack and decay envelopes. The resynthesis section features a five-stage bandpass filter, as well as emphasis, spectral tilt, and shape functions to enhance sound quality.
It also features an unvoiced section to control plosives and high-frequency consonants, an advanced freeze section to hold specific formants, and a pitch modulation section that covers everything from subtle vibrato to dramatic effects.

Bandpass filter selectable from 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20.
A unique freeze section allows for rhythmic hold of specific formants, either manually, via MIDI note, or DAW synchronization.
Shape section controls resynthesis leakage, and Emphasis section manages the response of each band.
Pitch modulation section allows for effects ranging from subtle vibrato to dramatic wobble.
