The classic and legendary compressor on which the OPTO Compressor is modeled is acclaimed as one of the most classic compressors, renowned for its tube-rich character and its ability to delicately and naturally bring out the subtle nuances of your playing.

The OPTO Compressor faithfully emulates that warm and smooth tonal character while also incorporating modern features such as drive, sidechain, stereo link, high make-up, and dry/wet, ideal for DAW-based music production.

This combination not only captures the magic of the T4 Opto Cell found in the original 1960s unit, but also offers Softube's superior sound quality and efficient workflow.

The OPTO Compressor offers the slow attack and smooth character of tube optical compressors, a staple in the pro audio world, but with a wide range of parameters and characteristics ideal for DAWs.

The Dry/Wet knob and sidechain section provide detailed control and increased versatility for mixing and mastering. The Drive knob allows you to specify the amount of distortion and character of the original unit separately from the gain reduction, making it more useful in mixing than the original hardware.

The Stereo Link switch allows you to switch between ""Linked"" mode, which links the gain reduction on the left and right channels, and ""Unlinked Dual Mono"" mode, which allows independent gain reduction. The High Makeup function compensates for the slight high-frequency loss caused by compression.

The OPTO Compressor adds natural warmth and smoothness to vocals, guitar, and bass, and is especially effective on vocal tracks when used as a second gain reduction stage after the FET Compressor Mk II.
