The MKH 8018 is a stereo shotgun microphone with stunning spatial realism. Its RF technology delivers low noise, low distortion, and a wide bandwidth, maintaining its performance even in hot and humid environments. It features three switchable modes (MS/XY-Wide/XY-Narrow), an LCF (Light Cord Compensation) and a pad (PAD) in a lightweight, rugged 115g body, making it ideal for on-camera sound effects and immersive recording.
It features three switchable stereo modes: MS, XY-narrow, and XY-wide, and an exceptional push-pull transducer design. Combined with a low-tension diaphragm, this transducer design provides exceptional sensitivity and a wide frequency response to capture your audio with the highest possible fidelity.
- Stereo shotgun capsule configuration captures sound with immersive directionality and spatial realism.
- Ideal microphone choice for the polar pattern required in film and video production: stereo soundscapes for feature films and sporting events, spatially accurate ambient sound, wildlife photography, and more.
- Three switchable stereo modes: MS, XY-narrow, and XY-wide.
- A switchable low-cut filter (-3 dB at 70 Hz) reduces wind and handling noise.
- A high-quality -10 dB pad protects against overdrive.
- Compact design makes it ideal for camera mounting.
- Identical to other 8000 Series microphones for optimal audible compatibility.
- Fully floating, balanced outputs enable non-critical connection techniques with minimal distortion.
- A low-tension diaphragm and symmetrical, acoustically open, push-pull transducer design keep the audio flow as unobstructed and distortion-free as possible.
- Extended bass response captures audio across the entire frequency range, allowing for greater flexibility in microphone placement.
Part of a complete line of condenser microphones. The MKH 8000 Series includes all the standard polar patterns audio recording professionals need for a variety of applications.
The durable metal housing and rugged construction, designed in Germany, mean exceptional reliability.
The moisture-resistant design makes it ideal for use in humid, hot, and cold environments where other microphones fail.
The optimized polar pattern avoids off-axis coloration, resulting in a consistent sound image, especially with loud sources.
Low self-noise for improved audio detail maintains the softness of quiet sounds and enhances dynamics.
Low nonlinear distortion maintains sonic clarity by avoiding the addition of new frequency spectrum.
The compact size makes it easy to transport and visually unobtrusive for live shows and television.
The Nextel anti-reflective coating eliminates reflections from stage lighting, making the microphone visually unobtrusive for live shows and television.
■Recording Flexibility with Three Switchable Modes
With switchable modes—MS, XY-narrow, and XY-wide—the MKH 8018 offers unparalleled flexibility to recordists. In M-S mode, the MKH 8018 provides independent mid and side signals. This allows you to adjust the width of the stereo image using a matrix mixer in post-production or on-site. You can also choose between two internal matrix modes, providing traditional ""left and right"" stereo without the need for an external mixer. To accommodate various acoustic environments, users can choose between a ""wide"" pattern (LR-W) that increases ambient pickup, or a ""narrow"" pattern (LR-N) that increases rejection and reduces ambient sound.
■Part of a Complete Series
The MKH 8000 Series is a complete toolkit for audio professionals. Ideal for outdoor applications such as sports broadcasting and wilderness recording, the MKH 8000 microphone lets you go wherever you need to go with confidence.
