BOSS / RT-2 Rotary Ensemble

The RT-2 captures the sound of a vintage rotary speaker. It meticulously recreates the characteristic vibrations and rich spatial spaciousness produced by a rotary speaker. In addition to the classic rotary sound, it offers three other types, including original tones. Simple operation allows you to control the many functions required for a rotary effect.

■ Fully Reproduced Expressively
The RT-2 meticulously recreates the musical sound and behavior of a rotary speaker, delivering a truly expressive sound. The rotation speed can be set using the FAST and SLOW knobs, and the central virtual rotary display provides a visual indication of the speed. The FAST and SLOW states can also be toggled using a foot switch. The RT-2 also reproduces the tonal changes that occur when the rotor accelerates or decelerates when the rotation speed is changed, and the RISE/FALL TIME switch on the rear panel allows you to select from two transition speeds.

■ Three Types of Rotary Effects
The RT-2 offers three modes, ranging from a faithful reproduction of the warm tone of a vintage rotary speaker to a sound with original tuning that provides a more expansive and dynamic modulation.
・MODE I
This mode faithfully recreates the sound of a vintage rotary speaker using BOSS's latest modeling technology. It captures its unique character, delivering a warm, three-dimensional, and comfortable modulation.

MODE II
This rotary effect has a wider range and is brighter than MODE I. It combines clear ensemble sound with expansive modulation. It also excels in combination with other pedals, such as distortion pedals.

MODE III
While maintaining the clear sound of MODE II, it expands the DRIVE control range to create deep distortion not possible with the original. It also features a strong sense of rotation. The sound maintains its definition even with intense modulation and distortion, greatly expanding the range of expression, from impactful guitar solos to memorable arpeggios.

■Dual-Function DRIVE Knob
Vintage rotary speakers are known for their unique saturation from the built-in vacuum tube amplifier. The RT-2's DRIVE knob adds a comfortable distortion inspired by this sound. It's also possible to create saturated rotary effects or powerful lead tones that combine distortion and undulation. By switching the rear switch to BALANCE, you can use the DRIVE/BOSS controls to set the volume balance between the treble and bass rotors. You can fine-tune the sound to your liking, or go bold and create a lo-fi vibe.

■Flexible Real-Time Control
The expressive power of rotary effects is enhanced by the diverse spatial effects created by controlling the rotation speed in real time. With the RT-2, you can turn the effect on/off and switch between FAST and SLOW modes using just the pedal switch on the unit. Choose from four pedal switch operation modes, allowing you to optimize your playing style. Furthermore, by adding a separately sold footswitch, you can independently control FAST/SLOW and activate the BRAKE function, which gradually slows and stops the rotor rotation. Adding an expression pedal also gives you flexible control of assigned parameters with your foot.
