==================================
""Ample China Traditional Percussion"" is a Chinese folk percussion ensemble sound source based on the new Ample Sound 4.0 sampling engine, featuring membranophones, wooden instruments, brass, and other instruments covering a wide range of tones from low to high.
It contains 19 instrument slots, including drum ensembles, solo drums, gongs, cymbals, opera percussion, and vocals, with 49 percussion instruments and a total of 15GB of samples. Each instrument offers multiple articulations, velocity layers, and sample cycling (round robin).
The drum ensemble and solo drums feature up to 13 different articulations, including center, rim, edge, hand mute, slap, and roll. Other instruments also feature multiple articulations. Ample Sound's Dizi, Xiao, and Erhu legato techniques have been applied to percussion instruments. Instruments like gongs, cymbals, singing bowls, temple bowls, and bells feature various legato variations, such as striking the singing bowl first and then legatoizing to Sing (the effect of the mallet continuously scraping around the rim).
The drum ensemble was recorded using 11 microphone positions. For some drums, the drum head and rim, each with its own unique function and timbre, were recorded on separate tracks, for a total of 22 microphones. Other percussion instruments were also recorded with multiple microphones, with even the smallest woodblock using four microphones. While the microphone configurations vary for each instrument, the same overhead microphones were used for all instruments to ensure tonal consistency.
The performance phrase generation feature ""Rifffer"" included in AMPLE SOUND products has been upgraded to the new Riffer editor ""Riffer Piano,"" powered by a new engine. Editing, including articulation assignment, is now possible for each note on a screen more similar to a standard piano roll. Edited MIDI data can also be exported.
■Key Features
- Dual-Layer Mixer
The mixer features a two-layer structure. The first layer contains instrument tracks, each of which contains multiple microphone tracks on the second layer. This configuration accommodates the diversity of Chinese percussion instruments, with different microphone configurations for drum ensembles and small wooden percussion instruments. However, the same overhead microphones are used for all percussion instruments to ensure timbral consistency. Additionally, the drumheads and rims of some drums have completely different timbral functions and are therefore treated as separate instrument tracks. The drumheads emphasize low frequencies like a kick drum, while the rims emphasize high frequencies like a snare drum.
Apply effects such as compression, EQ, delay, and reverb to each track individually, and mixer tracks are automatically updated when you switch instruments.
