""AMPLE CHINA KONGHOU"" is a sound source for the peacock-type 76-string ""Konghou"" (箜篌), based on the new sampling engine Ample Sound 4.0.
The Konghou is an ancient harp-like stringed instrument that was introduced to East Asia from Persia over 2,000 years ago. Unlike a harp, the Konghou has 76 strings arranged in two rows, each connected to a lever at the bottom of the instrument. By picking a string and pressing the corresponding string, you can create articulations such as vibrato and bends. With a soft tone and wide range (G0-B5), it's suitable for a variety of musical styles, including film soundtracks, game music, easy listening, new age, and pop.
""AMPLE CHINA KONGHOU"" features a total of 7.5GB of eight articulations and FX sounds, including sustain, nature harmonics, tremolo, arpeggio, and pre-vibrato, performed by artist Ye Lin. Recorded with five microphones (left, right, center, and stereo ambience), each with adjustable volume and EQ. Equipped with an 8-band EQ, a compressor with selectable RMS and Peak, a 6-tap echo, and IR reverb, it allows for versatile sound design.
Additionally, the harp-like design allows for two-handed glissandos, allowing for a more flexible and fluent reproduction of glissandi. Simply input the start and end notes and the instrument will automatically play the notes in the selected scale (pentatonic, heptatonic, or Persian) between them, providing a high level of freedom in recreating smooth glissandos that are difficult to achieve with MIDI input. The performance phrase generation function ""Rifffer"" included in AMPLE SOUND products has been upgraded to the new Riffer editor ""Riffer Piano"" with a new engine. Editing, including articulation assignment for each note, is now possible on a screen more similar to a standard piano roll. Of course, edited MIDI data can also be exported.
