AMPLE BASS UPRIGHT 4 is an upright bass sound module that lets you play upright bass to your heart's content on your computer. Sounds were meticulously sampled from the 0th to 20th frets of each string to enable more dynamic and nuanced playing. Microphone-recorded samples (neck, body, and ambient) and DI samples from the piezo pickup are available and can be mixed. Separate EQ settings are available for the microphone and DI, allowing for a wide range of sound creation. As with other AMPLE BASS series instruments, each string can be tuned down a full step.

Articulations include sustain, palm mute, natural harmonics, legato slide, hammer-on/pull-off, and slap, all recorded with a dry sound without reverberation. The slide recreates the fretless nuances unique to upright instruments. Randomization of picking attack strength and automatic insertion of fret and release noises at appropriate points allow for lively performances.

Also, starting with version 4, the ""Riffer"" function for creating bass riffs has been updated to ""Riffer 4."" A new piano roll screen allows riff editing. Notes are color-coded in four colors for each string played on the piano roll, allowing you to visualize which notes are played on which strings while editing. It also features a DAW-like MIDI CC and velocity editor. You can even specify chords or keys to transpose notes together.

Other features include a Tab Player Panel that reads and plays tablature created in the tablature and score editing software ""Guitar Pro"" format ("".gp3"", "".gp4"", "".gp5"", "".gpx""); an 8-band EQ, a compressor with selectable RMS and Peak, a 6-Tap Echo, and an IR Reverb. ""AMPLE BASS UPRIGHT III"" is an upright bass sound source that combines ease of use with all the necessary articulations and functionality.

- 24-bit/44.1 kHz sampling.
- Library capacity is optimized by adjusting the number of velocity layer and round-robin samples for each fret based on expected frequency of use.
- Articulation switching via key switches.
- Includes a variety of sounds, such as fret noise and release noise, to enhance performance realism.
- Capo function transposes performance notes while retaining key switches and input notes.
- Capo Logic automatically selects the optimal fret/position (manual selection of the fret/string to be used for performance is also possible).
- Alternate Tuner allows tuning for each string (up to a full note down).
- Open String First prioritizes open strings in phrases played in high positions.
- When launched as a standalone application, MIDI input can be performed using the computer's keyboard as a virtual keyboard.
- Adjustable attack time and start time, which occurs between the time the pick hits the string and the time it is plucked and sounds.
