KICK DRUM
The kick drum, which boasts unprecedented sound pressure, is Jomox's most popular instrument. The sound is directly derived from the long-selling MBase/ModBase series of kick drum instruments, and it provides solid support for the low frequencies that are at the core of dance music. When you play Jomox kicks on the dance floor, you can't help but dance to the bass that penetrates through your body.

MBRANE
The entire analog percussion instrument M.brane-11 is included. The membrane (a drum structure made of a tube covered with a membrane), reproduced with analog circuitry, can produce a wide range of sounds, from kick drums, snare drums, and toms to hi-hats, rimshots, cowbells, claves, and outlandish sound effects.

CLSD HI HAT, OPEN HI HAT
Sample playback part with HH filter designed for hi-hat, analog VCA, and ADSR envelope. HH filter is a non-oscillating analog filter with low-pass, high-pass, and resonance simultaneously. It adds an analog filter texture to the sample sound.

CLAP, RIM SHOT, CLASH, RIDE
This is a sample playback part with low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass switchable multimode filter, analog VCA, ADSR envelope, and LFO. The multimode filter is self-oscillating, and the ADSR envelope and LFO can be used to create analog percussion sounds based on the sound obtained by self-oscillation. This can be a sample playback part as well as a small synth voice part. Running a synth-based sample through the multimode filter can bring it close to a realistic analog synth sound.

X SAMPLE1, X SAMPLE2
This sampler part allows sampling and playback of sounds input to the external input jacks. The sampled sound can be saved to the internal flash memory or SD card. Saved sounds can be loaded into another sample playback part.

FM SYNTH
FM SYNTH is a mini FM synthesizer with 4 operators and up to 6 voices, ideal for playing metallic percussion sounds and simple chords, or for connecting an external keyboard via MIDI and playing as a polysynth.

Effects
Two spatial send/return effects, delay and reverb, are provided. Delay is also inserted into the 6 sample playback parts and is used as one element for sound creation. The reverb can be set to an almost infinite reverb time, and the damping filter is very extreme, so it fulfills the elements needed for modern electronic music.

Ease of Use
Alpha Base is designed to be as simple to use as possible despite its many parameters. 32 parameters can be controlled per instrument. While there are 32 parameters per instrument, there are 16 encoders on the left side of the panel, allowing you to access everything about the sound by simply switching between pages A and B. Although many functions are provided, the number of steps in the hierarchy is as few as possible, making operation intuitive.

The 24-digit x 2-line display shows four parameters simultaneously.

Sequencer
The sequencer features a 16-step sequencer with one track per part, for a total of 11 tracks. Each track can be programmed with up to 64 steps, and if 16 steps are set per measure, up to 4 measures can be programmed.

The number of steps actually played is set by the “last step” function: 32 steps for 2 bars, 48 steps for 3 bars. The last step can be set on a track-by-track basis, making it easy to program polyrhythmic patterns.

Shuffle can be set globally or per track. Roll/flam can be set per track for roll/flam patterns, which can be triggered at specific steps.

Parameter Lock.
The “Parameter Lock” function allows recording pitch and other parameters for each step of the pattern. Pitch can be recorded over a range of up to 24 semitones = 2 octaves, and all other parameters can be recorded over the entire range that can be changed with the knobs. Programming is very easy: simply hold down the step button of the step for which you want to record the desired instrument call parameters and turn the knob. Parameter lock can be turned on and off by pressing the SEQ button.

The step of a pattern can record not only pitch and parameters, but also the entire instrument preset. By taking full advantage of the parameter lock function, you can use far more sounds than 11 instruments in a single pattern.

Chain
The Chain function allows you to play adjacent patterns in succession. For example, by pressing step buttons 3 and 6 simultaneously in chain mode, you can play pattern 3, pattern 4, pattern 5, pattern 6, and so on.

USB, MIDI
The Alpha Base features MIDI In/Out/Thru and USB connectivity, allowing seamless integration into a DAW environment by connecting to a PC with a USB cable. 11 instruments can be set to MIDI Clock Sync or MIDI Master for complete synchronization with the DAW. Each of the 11 instruments is played on its own MIDI (USB) channel. All parameters can be controlled via MIDI CC, and each knob sends its actual CC via MIDI (USB).

Audio Outputs
All audio outputs are balanced out, providing up to 22 dBu (in balanced mode) of professional-level output. The punchy sound is proportional to the physical output level. All sounds are mixed and output from the stereo mix outputs. When a cable is plugged into the individual visual outputs, the connection to the stereo mix outputs can be disconnected, allowing sounds to be output independently for each instrument.
