LYRA-4 is an organic drone synthesizer with four channels of sound sources.
The LYRA-4 is designed with a special design that sets it apart from traditional synthesizers, creating a unique sound world that ranges from beautiful soundscapes to the roar of a monster. The LYRA-4 is played by touching the metal touch sensors on each channel, and the sound changes organically depending on how the player touches the sensors and the conditions of the player.
Organismic means that LYRA uses the underlying principles of living organisms; the interaction between the LYRA modules and the behavior of the instrument is like a living conversation. It is smaller and lighter, but the design is equally robust and still powerful enough. This makes it perfect for fitting easily into a backpack and taking the sound of LYRA with you. Also, playing with two LYRA-4s will sound very different than playing with a single LYRA-8.
Features
4 voices x 2 pairs, a voice configuration that sets it apart from traditional synthesizers
The LYRA-4 is equipped with four channels of sound sources, which are called voices. This design is not like a traditional subtractive synth-sized VCO, but more like an old electric organ.
The voices are divided into two pairs (12 and 34), forming a tree-like structure. Each voice has its own TUNE knob; FAST, MOD, Modulation Source Selector, and SHARP affect two voices simultaneously; HOLD, PITCH, VIBRATO, and TOTAL FB control all voices together.
Voices can function in either Electric Organ mode or FM Synthesis mode, with each voice and its envelope acting as a separate FM operator. The Voice's effect on FM synthesis? decreases as the envelope decays.
Metal touch sensor that reads your physical condition, mental state, humidity, etc. and plays sounds
Instead of keys on a traditional synthesizer, LYRA-4 has metal touch sensors on each voice. The touch sensors activate the envelope of each voice by touching a pair of contact surfaces, causing it to sound. The response is dependent on conductivity, so the response will vary depending on various factors such as your physical condition, the amount of moisture in your skin, your mental state, and the humidity of the environment in which you are using the device. The response speed of the envelopes can be switched by the two FAST switches provided above each pair.
HYPER LFO for complex modulation
The HYPER LFO is a complex low-frequency generator whose waveform is synthesized by adding or multiplying the frequencies of two simple LFOs. There is also a sync mode, where the LFO can modulate a selected pair of voices and MOD DELAY.
MOD DELAY takes the sound into another space
MOD DELAY consists of a delay with feedback. This delay has a unique self-oscillating function where the output signal modulates the sample rate of the delay, creating a cool effect.
The final stage, DISTORTION, destroys everything.
After the MOD DELAY, there is a final stage of distortion, which can transform the fantastic sound created by the MOD DELAY, such as shimmering on the surface of the water, into the roar of a vicious monster in an instant by simply turning the DRIVE and MIX controls.
An experimental synthesizer, yet an instrument that stands up to professional use
The LYRA-4's output dynamics and frequency response are well balanced, making it ideal for live performances and studio recording.
