The TOMS909 is a module that faithfully reproduces the circuitry of the three tom drum sound sources (LOW, MID, and HIGH) found on the TR-909.

This module was designed to sound like a machine fresh off the production line in the 80s. In addition, the tuning range of each tom has been extended to produce a soft bass drum-like sound in the lower registers and higher pitched toms in the upper registers.

The tom circuitry consists of a stack of nine triangular wave oscillators, filters, VCAs, and envelopes that together take up about half the space of the original 909's circuit board. toms909 utilizes the latest electronic design techniques to create this massive 450+ component The TOMS909 uses the latest electronic design techniques to squeeze this massive circuit of over 450 components into a width of only 16HP. Hundreds of tiny components gleam on this beautiful board, making it a true “analog gem.

Each tom provides a trigger, an accent input with accent level control, a manual tune, a voltage control tune input with attenuator, and three independent audio outs. In addition, there is a MIX output for all three toms together and a MixBus on the rear panel for internal connection to the mixer module MIXZ. Each gate input is equipped with a dual pulse shaper circuit, allowing the TOMS909 to be triggered by a trigger/gate signal from a sequencer or other pulse/clock source.
