COSMOS is a drifting memory station designed to work with meditative states through music. The controls, functions, and soundscapes created are intended to evoke for both performer and listener the meditative states and experiences of infinite space, fluidity, spontaneous unfolding, presence, hearing, stillness, subtle harmonic experiences, and a sense of well-being that envelops the entire world. COSMOS is a unique and powerful instrument.

In function, COSMOS is a large array of sound memories, which are continually recombined to spontaneously generate an ever-changing soundscape of recorded sounds. It does this using three techniques Mathematical shifts in relation to a large reference number (each delay line is based on a different number), asynchronous processing with an LFO, and modulation with a slowly changing chaotic signal. These create an ever-changing sound and its layers, rather than the tediously repetitive loops you get with loopers.

COSMOS creates rich, fluid, evolving soundscapes that are perfect for ambient music, without the use of pre-made studio sequences or backing tracks, which are not expressive of the “here and now, COSMOS allows you to perform an entire meditative solo concert in a natural flow.
