Tiptop Audio / 808-MA Black

The MA808 is a module that faithfully reproduces the maracas sound of the TR-808.

While the original 808 did not allow editing of the tone, the MA-808 has an Attack control, and the original maracas sound can be heard when the Attack knob is set to the black dot on the panel. Setting the Attack knob counterclockwise produces a sharper attack and a closed hi-hat-like sound, while a longer Attack setting delays the sound slightly from triggering, creating a lively groove when mixed with other percussion sounds as a snappy effect.
In addition to the maracas sound output, it also has a white noise output that continues to output the white noise from which the maracas sound is made, so it can be used as a white noise generator.
