BFD Vintage Recording Techniques is a BFD3 expansion featuring Ludwig Classic Maple drum kits recorded using five vintage recording techniques. It recreates authentic vintage sounds perfect for rock, pop, blues, and more.

Using world-renowned drum recording techniques from ORTF, Glyn Johns, Blumlein, and others. Direct microphones are placed on each drum kit, allowing for a wide range of drum sounds, from vintage to modern, when mixing.

-ORTF uses two AKG C451B microphones. It produces a wide stereo image with subtle mono detail, perfect for jazz tracks.

The spaced pair setup is a recording technique often used in rock album recordings. Two AKG C414 XLS large-diaphragm condensers are placed with ample spacing between them. This produces a wide stereo image with a wide range of tones.

Blumlein uses two ribbon microphones for an excellent stereo image and smooth ambience.

Glyn Johns uses two Neumann TLM103 overheads. Combining the direct channels of the snare and bass drum produces that classic sound.
