Maselec MLA-4 is a 3-band compressor/expander plug-in that provides natural and precise dynamic control.

Developed in collaboration with Leif Mases (founder of Maselec), this is the only official plug-in that faithfully reproduces legendary analog hardware. It perfectly recreates the musical, natural dynamics processing of the original hardware unit, while adding the flexible and efficient workflow features of software.

Designed for mixing, mastering, and stem processing, the MLA-4 combines precise multiband control with highly musical sonic results.

Per-band compression (up to 6:1) and expansion (up to 1:2) can tighten low-end boom, lift high-end airiness, or recover lost transients from over-processed mixes.

The MLA-4 simplifies dynamic shaping with precise control of threshold, ratio, attack, and release for each band, allowing you to harmonize compression and expansion.

You can dial in tight low end, articulate mids, and smooth highs while avoiding unnecessary pumping, muddying, and overcompensation. Unlike traditional designs, every adjustment feels natural and preserves the integrity of your mix.

Smarter sidechain for smoother dynamics
The behavior of most multiband sidechains is an afterthought, with all bands reacting together or not. MLA-4 redefines this approach with a 5-mode sidechain linking system that adapts compression and expansion behavior to the material.

Need a full band combination? Use full linking. Need precise control? Let's make the band independent. But the real magic happens in the in-between modes. The bass compresses and expands the mids and highs, maintaining clarity without over-compensating dynamics.
