Inspired by the legendary Korg classic Mono/Poly, the new multi/poly offers all the great features and sounds of the legendary Korg Mono/Poly in a compact 19” desktop/rackmount package.
Stunning Analog Sounds Only Digital Can Provide
Inspired by the legendary Korg Mono/Poly, the new multi/poly analog modeling synthesizer combines breathtaking analog sound with extraordinary digital power and flexibility, They have already earned a reputation as one of the best synthesizers of recent years.
Now Korg introduces the multi/poly module, bringing all of multi/poly's incredible features and sound into a compact 19” desktop/rackmount package. Poly Aftertouch support makes this module the perfect companion for Korg's Keystage controllers. It is also fully compatible with multi/poly native software programs as well as a growing number of excellent third-party libraries, keeping your sounds and software updated and fresh. The new 19” rackmountable enclosure has the same controls as the keyboard-equipped models, yet is easily transportable and fits neatly into any studio or desktop production system.
Next Generation Analog Modeling
The multi/poly module features newly designed filters and oscillators with incredible sound, but the evolution of analog modeling goes even deeper. The oscillator, filter, envelope, LFO, and portamento circuits model variations of analog hardware components. The result is a natural and rich sound, each with a slightly different character. This variation can be increased or decreased as desired for each sound.
Just like an analog synth, the voice card continues to change even when you are not listening to it. The envelope also keeps moving, so if you play a pad with a long release time, the newly played note will “catch” the envelope at its current level, rather than restarting it from zero. The oscillators and LFO will remain in phase and the resonance will continue to ring. The pitch of each oscillator also drifts slightly over time, modeling the slight pitch instability found in analog hardware.
The envelope is an often-overlooked element that contributes to the unique sound of vintage synths, and the multi/poly module includes presets of envelope curves from classic machines such as Mono/Poly, MS-20, and ARP Odyssey. Analog VCAs do not respond uniformly to voltage and have different on/off thresholds, which strongly affect the character of the amplifier envelope. Therefore, the multi/poly module also models the VCA response of many famous machines such as Mono/Poly, MS-20, and Odyssey, and includes a linear setting.
Have you ever tried to recreate the portamento of your favorite song by switching between “constant rate” and “constant time” but could not find the right setting? Classic analog synths took a different approach to portamento, which is why the multi/poly module offers six different portamento models.
MIDI2.0 property exchange support
All multi/poly models (hardware and software) support MIDI 2.0 property exchange and polyphonic aftertouch, so they can be connected to Keystage to fully demonstrate their capabilities.
Rackmount Adaptor for Various Situations
The multi/poly module is designed for both desktop and rack-mount use. The front panel has been redesigned to fit into a 19” rack, and the rear terminals have been recessed so that the top shelf of the rack does not have to be cleared when inserting cables. When used on a desktop, the panel can be set at a more upright angle by changing the way the rack-mount adapters on either side are attached, allowing for comfortable operation while sitting in a chair.
