■Why is an equalizer necessary?
If we lived in a perfect world, we wouldn't need audio equalization. The sound system is perfect, reproduces every sound perfectly, everyone likes the same balance of bass, mids and treble, and there should be no feedback. But the real world is not like that. No matter how good your sound system is, you can get better sound quality by using a good equalizer (e.g. FBQ800).
■How does it work?
The frequency range of sounds we hear is like a wide nine-lane highway. Each lane represents one octave of the range.
Bass range (63Hz to 500Hz)
Midrange (1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz): Most instruments and vocals are included in this range.
High frequencies (8kHz, 16kHz): Includes cymbals, snare drums, and other high-pitched instruments
FBQ800 allows you to control the flow of sound by adjusting each of the nine frequency bands individually. Proper equalization allows all frequencies to be heard in a well-balanced manner, playing the role of ""equalization.""
■Removal of feedback
Feedback occurs when certain frequencies are overamplified, picked up by the microphone, and run through the system again. Therefore, if you leave it alone, the volume will get louder and louder. This is where the FBQ800's feedback detection system comes into play. This innovative circuit lights up an LED on each fader to let you know when a particular frequency band is approaching dangerous levels. The solution is simple, just lower the lit slider. If the LED goes out, the feedback problem is solved! Tasks that once required a trained ear can now be easily handled by anyone.
■Sound tool kit
With nine frequency bands, the FBQ800 allows you to easily fine-tune your sound and eliminate feedback instantly. Each fader can boost or cut its respective frequency band by up to ±12dB, which is a fairly large adjustment range. It is particularly good at controlling the bass range, and is equipped with a low-cut filter in addition to a low-range fader. This eliminates unwanted bass sounds such as floor rumble, room resonance, and mains hum. Especially for speech applications, this is a big advantage.
■Should I boost or cut?
You can improve the acoustics of a room by raising or lowering specific frequency bands. For example, if the sound in your room is too bass-heavy, lowering the 63Hz or 125Hz fader can eliminate the overall ""boomy"" or ""muffled"" sound. Similarly, slightly boosting 8kHz or 16kHz can add some ""sparkle"" to a dark, muffled mix. If the vocals get buried in the mix, you can bring them to the front by raising the frequency by 1kHz. However, simply raising a specific fader may not be the best solution. To make a desired frequency stand out, it is better to lower the surrounding band and then raise the overall volume, which will ensure better headroom (a more comfortable volume balance).
■Designed for accuracy and reliability
On the subject of headroom, the FBQ800 features 6-digit LED input/output meters and a level control that allows you to precisely manage volume levels. Additionally, high-quality illuminated faders and switches are used to ensure long-term reliability. Additionally, an ultra-low noise audio operational amplifier ensures superior sound quality. Additionally, all instruments in the Mini Series can be stacked to create ultra-compact signal processing solutions.
