Hinke/Basic exercises for beginning oboe
ISE (International Standard Etudes) is the most standard series of etudes for wind and string instruments in the whole world.
Among the etudes (exercises) used in parallel with the introduction to the oboe, “Basic Etudes for Beginning Oboe” by Gustav-Adolf Hinke (1844-1893), a historical masterpiece known throughout the world, is now included in the ISE series.
Despite being a well-known work, there is no record of Hinke in the Editions Peters, the publisher of the first edition, and the only record that remains is that the first edition was published 120 years ago, in 1888. This fact, however, has solved the mystery of some of the original's simple but difficult explanatory text, and the Japanese edition has been fully revised in terms of the musical score, as well as the translation, to bring it into line with modern understanding.
