Second-generation Earthworks microphones draw just 6 mA of phantom current, improving operation with devices including transformer-based preamps and splitters.
Additional protection reduces risks from accidental hot plugging. Connecting with phantom power on can create damaging transients under some conditions; switch phantom power off before changing connections even when workflows or session recalls make this inconvenient.
Second-generation Earthworks microphones feature enhanced protection for power conditions beyond those typically encountered with major touring consoles and stage boxes.

RM2 securely attaches DM20 Gen 2 to snare or tom rims, providing a low-profile, tour-ready solution without a microphone stand.
Designed for DM20 Gen 2, RM2 is optimized for its gooseneck and clip and offers broad compatibility with metal drum hoops and suspension mounts.

DM20 Gen 2 combines a fast, clean impulse response with broad, flat frequency response to reproduce the natural drum sound at a higher level.

DM20's supercardioid pattern is designed for over 25 dB rejection at 140 degrees and an average of over 16 dB at 180 degrees.
The 1/3-octave polar charts show consistent performance across frequencies, combining focused frontal pickup with strong rear rejection.
