~EXS-5/EXS-3 Feature Introduction~
●More Freedom with Cymbals
EXS Cymbals in the EXS series are free of cumbersome parts like rotation stoppers, allowing for full playability. A newly designed pivot allows for natural omnidirectional sway, and careful consideration has been given to the cymbal's overall deflection when striking the edge and the thickness of the tip, resulting in a natural playing feel despite the silent silicone material.
●Precise pedalwork detection
The hi-hat is the most delicately controlled element in drum performance. Conventional electronic hi-hats often use contact sensors, which have limitations in detection accuracy and tracking. EXS The hi-hats in the series feature contactless sensors for high-precision sensing without delay, even when opening and closing quickly.
●Newly developed sensors and two-layer drum heads
All drums feature two-layer mesh heads. The more power you apply to your shots, the smoother the sound. Additionally, the snare drum and toms feature three-point multi-sensors. This significantly reduces hot spots, accurately reproducing everything from big shots to delicate ghost notes.
●Kick drums that support the groove
The kick drum, which is the backbone of your performance, requires stability and high-speed response. Our unique cushioning structure, which balances damping and sensing of the beater's impact, delivers both a solid feel and high-speed response. The 13"" or 10"" mesh head provides a comfortable feel for keeping the beat. Even with hard, rapid strikes using a twin pedal, it delivers stable sensing and playability.
~xD3 DRUMS SOUND MODULE ~
● Designing a true-to-life drum sound.
Our idea of a true-to-life drum sound is not one that sounds the same no matter who plays it, but one that allows an experienced drummer to play with the dynamics and groove they intend.
In developing the xD3, we didn't pursue a large number of sounds or add sound editing features that would degrade the quality of the original sound. This is because we believe that the true-to-life drum sound that a drummer perceives lies on a different level than the spec competition.
The ability to freely produce uncompressed instrument sounds that capture the large dynamics of a kick drum, the subtleties of a snare, and the natural resonance of cymbals. We focused on the realism that a drummer perceives, including the time it takes for the sound to reach the drummer's ear from the kick drum, microphone placement that takes into account the position of the drummer's ear, reverberations including room resonance, and stereo positioning. We focused on achieving a realistic drum sound.
● Sound generation performance that brings out the drummer's groove
The most important factor in determining good playability is that the sound is heard the instant the drum is struck. For drummers who unconsciously control timing down to the millisecond, a delay in sound generation disrupts the groove. Even the same sound can sound different depending on the drummer, because each drummer has a different groove.
The xD3 developed a high-speed triggering analysis and low-latency sound generation process to bring out these differences in groove and ensure a seamless, comfortable performance. This unique technology generates sound from uncompressed audio data with massive amounts of information the instant it is struck, clearly expressing the drummer's individuality.
● The natural dynamic range of drums
Traditionally, the dynamic range of electronic drums has tended to ""top out"" relatively easily. While anyone can play with a consistent sound, this can reveal the electronic drumming characteristics and make it difficult to achieve the natural, varied sound of an acoustic drum.
The xD3 uses a dedicated drum sound engine capable of expressing dynamics ranging from delicate pianissimo (ppp) to powerful fortississimo (fff).
Recorded sounds ranging from ppp to fff are accurately reproduced according to the drummer's striking strength. This sound engine also reproduces natural transitions between rolls, without the mechanical sound of rapid succession.
● Cymbal sounds with natural reverberation, without compromising the original sound.
Previous electronic drums have used a method to reduce sound source data by looping cymbal sounds that have been shortened or created on a synthesizer, then applying reverb and decay through DSP.
Take the time to experience the xD3's cymbal sounds. You'll experience the realistic reverberation of real cymbals. This is because the xD3 records the decay of each cymbal sound in uncompressed stereo, reproducing the cymbal sound exactly as it is. The well-positioned, naturally long reverberation adds depth to even delicate pieces that emphasize rests, or small ensembles.
● Realistic performance with high-resolution sound
The sound sources included in the xD3 are recorded in stereo and high-resolution, thanks to the ideal conditions: perfectly conditioned vintage instruments, tuning that brings out their full potential, drummers who are intimately familiar with the instruments, the finest studios and equipment, and unique sampling technology and know-how. These high-quality instrument sounds are recorded in the xD3 as uncompressed audio data, with only the minimum necessary adjustments to preserve the original sound.
● Setup function for playing comfort
The xD3 allows you to set up the xD3 to suit your individual playing style. Adjust sensor sensitivity for a comfortable feel and eliminate crosstalk, and even configure snare rim shots. Additionally, you can individually adjust the output volume of each pad at the instrument level. This setup information can be saved internally or on an SD card.
Training Viewer Function Visualizes Dynamics and Timing
Practicing with the xD3's metronome function allows you to identify rhythmic imperfections that might otherwise go unnoticed while playing. When you play with the metronome function turned on, the LCD screen displays the dynamics and timing of your shots (Training Viewer), allowing you to objectively analyze your performance while practicing your basic skills every day. You can also customize the metronome's tone, volume, beat type, crash start, and other settings.
