UTILITIES includes simple auxiliary modules to expand the capabilities of the PULSAR-23 drum machine. It is a low-cost model with screw specifications.

It consists of passive components such as switches, resistors, and capacitors, as well as various amplifiers and waveshapers (linear, non-linear, controlled, and uncontrolled), and can be used with equipment other than pulsers (such as Eurorack modular synthesizers). The patching terminals are available in two versions: a professional version using highly reliable pulsar pins and a cost-reduced SCREW version using general-purpose screws. The only difference between the two types is the terminals; the circuits and functions are the same.

OVERVIEW
UTILITIES contains simple auxiliary modules to expand the functionality of the PULSAR-23 drum machine, and UTILITIES modules can also be used with any equipment that works with CV signals (Eurorack, semi-modular synthesizers, etc.).

Two groups
The modules included in UTILITIES are divided into two groups

Passive elements such as switches, resistors, and capacitors
Various linear, nonlinear, controlled, and uncontrolled amplifiers and wave shapers
Passive elements are designed to expand the switching and control possibilities of PULSAR.

Linear amplifiers are required when signals from devices operating in low-voltage format need to be fed to the PULSAR inputs. For example, if the output voltage of a step sequencer is 5 volts, PULSAR requires 10 volts to fully trigger the drum module. Also, whereas the output of a cassette tape recorder is 1 volt, PULSAR requires an input level of 5 volts of audio signal for normal operation. Nonlinearly controlled amplifiers and wave shapers are designed to control the signal level while simultaneously modifying its spectrum, distorting its shape, and adding harmonics. The circuitry of these amplifiers is very simple and based on early developments of the transistor era, with inherent beauty and elegance.



The UTILITIES connectors are designed to connect to the PULSAR 23 using alligator clips; adapters for 3.5mm Eurorack minijacks are also available.

The top panel and enclosure of UTILITIES are made of PCB, which allows for significant cost reduction.

Two Versions
UTILITIES is available in two versions

Pin version: A PULSAR-23-style version with high-quality turrets designed to connect alligator clips.
Screw version: This version uses a screw instead of a pin. This version is also designed to connect alligator clips, but is more affordable than the Pin version and has a different appearance.
