Malevolent is a pure analog synthesizer that gives you a lighthearted joy of playing. It features modern and versatile controls built around a stimulating Sarenky-type filter and a maddening retro sound.

Analog clock input/output
VCO
The VCO is derived from the 4046-based core and provides unique waveform formation. Sawtooth, triangle, and pulse waves are all affected by the VCO's shape control and modulation parameters. The waveforms are designed to behave non-uniformly across the pitch spectrum, giving you a glimpse of Malevolent's potential even before it reaches the filter stage.

VCF
The VCF is an opto FET-controlled 2-pole Sarenky filter that provides different filter states at independent inputs. The filter is designed to interact with the incoming oscillator level, resulting in a wider range of resonances than typical analog synthesizers. Settings allow for contrasting filter behavior, subharmonic locking, self-oscillation, and even phase adjustment when using multiple state inputs from a single source.

VCA
The VCA is a discrete transistor-based design that provides the final distortion where it is needed. Turning up the drive control adds considerable gain and saturates the sound. Both CV inputs can also be used to easily add modulation to the VCA.

Envelope.
The envelope is designed with performance in mind, with attack, decay, sustain, and release controls. It allows a wide range of time settings from ultra-fast to moderately long, resulting in high performance.
