■Toneflake Custom
TK AUDIO's flagship mastering EQ TK-LIZER's TONEFLAKE CUSTOM model. The main specifications remain the same, but the big difference is the tone. TK-LIZER is a mastering EQ equipped with an MS matrix, but it has been said for some time that the sound tends to become thinner when MS decoding a 2ch stereo source.
This is not the MS's fault, but a problem with the design of the buffers before and after it, but because the sound image is created by controlling the phase, the difference was easy to see. In TONEFLAKE CUSTOM, we focused on the sound image correction during MS equalization, which can be said to be the weak point.
The output stage is equipped with the original T1166 transformer that was so successful in the Chameleon Labs 7602 with a changed ratio. The time constant circuit has been omitted, and the frequency band has been extended to almost clear.
Wiring material is an important factor in determining the sound, and here we generously used the internal wiring material from vintage NEVE consoles. As for solder, eutectic solder is used at eutectic temperature. As a result, we were able to ensure a clear sound quality that is thick and punchy, without blurring in the low range, and that emphasizes the good phase in the high range.
The custom circuit is included in the final output stage, so you can enjoy the tone of TONEFLAKE CUSTOM regardless of whether the EQ is on or off.
In other words, you can use just this custom tone without using EQ.
The difference is obvious even in normal stereo EQ mode, but in MS mode you'll be surprised at the difference in space, bass focus point, and punch. Also, since there are no unnecessary circuits installed, the S/N has not deteriorated by even 0.1dB due to this customization.
