The “secret weapon” behind numerous masterpieces is now available as a sound source!

MERCURY samples 14 one-of-a-kind acoustic sculptures hand-crafted by Chas Smith, a top Hollywood instrument designer.

These instruments, or rather works of art, have created the mysterious soundscapes of the films Dune and Interstellar, sung the hero anthems of Man of Steel and The Hunger Games, and expressed fear throughout the Saw series.

This collection contains over 600 textures, tones and pads, which are organically synthesized and output using the new eDNA-powered plug-in “Solar”.

Chas Smith, the king of experimental instruments

Chas Smith is the king of acoustic experimentation in the real world. He creates sounds in a way that seems irrational, creating original instruments, and top composers such as Hans Zimmer and Charlie Clouser have incorporated his sounds into their music.

His experience is unparalleled, his imagination is boundless, and the combination of his diverse talents is superhuman. Based on his place in history, we can say with certainty that it is impossible for another human being to replicate his results.

Chas Smith was not originally a musician working in Hollywood. He began working in the film industry as a union welder and fabricator, and he has won an Academy Award for technical achievement for his structural engineering of motion control camera cranes.

The “works” created by this “artisan” in his field produce complex, organic sounds that cannot be replicated by anyone else.
