Sampling of the “Mrs. Mills Piano” owned by Abbey Road Studios

The 1905 Steinway & Sons grand piano at Abbey Road Studios, with its distinctive bright and clicky sound produced by its lacquered hammers, is known as the “Mrs Mills Piano” after the honky-tonk pianist Mrs Mills, who was active in the 1960s.

This piano, which has been used in countless films and music productions, was sampled at the iconic Abbey Road “Studio Two”, which has been used in the works of the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Ed Sheeran.

We have prepared signals that faithfully reproduce the sound of the 1960s using vintage equipment such as the AKG D19 and J37 tape machines, the REDD.47 preamplifier, and the EMT plate reverb.

We have packaged the unique sound that cannot be obtained in modern recordings in a software sound source that contains eight
