LONDON CONTEMPORARY ORCHESTRA STRINGS contains everything you need for modern string arrangements.

In the world of music today, where strings are the main focus, innovative performance techniques and styles are being actively incorporated, and we are seeing a “transition” in the way strings are arranged and used. This library is the world's only string sound source that responds to the string arrangements of this new era.

In creating this modern string sound library, SPITFIRE AUDIO has teamed up with the London Contemporary Orchestra (LCO). The LCO is famous for its work with British rock band : Radiohead, and Jed Cusell, who worked on the score for the film 'Alien Covenant', and is known for having had a major influence on the way modern strings are used.

This library contains a multi-sampled recording of a string section (violin, viola, cello, and double bass) recorded in a dry studio in London. The engineers were the popular Joe Lubell and Stanley Gabriel, product manager at SPITFIRE AUDIO. In addition to the dynamic range that is not found in conventional string sound libraries, you can get a different kind of inspiration from the rich and diverse sounds that have excellent playability, operability, and musicality!

Background of the Production

When we started working on the EVO GRID series, LCO became interested in collaborating with SPITFIRE AUDIO. We spent two years discussing how we could create something that would be different from conventional libraries. As a result, we decided that it would be difficult to make this dream a reality without partnering with LCO.

The LCO, which won the Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards 2015: Ensemble of the Year, is recognized as one of the UK's most innovative and respected orchestras, and has a wide-ranging audience through its latest music and cross-art collaborations.

The LCO was formed in 2008 by two Artistic Directors, Robert Ames (top left) and Hugh Brant (top right), and has collaborated with many famous composers, artists and brands. For example, they have collaborated with Radiohead, Secret Cinema, Actress, Vivienne Westwood, Jonny Greenwood, members of Arcade Fire , Boiler Room, Goldfrapp, Nike, Terry Riley, Beck and Foals, etc... Tickets for their acclaimed performances of “There Will Be Blood: Live” and “Imagined Occasions” at London's Roundhouse, Southbank Centre and Barbican sold out immediately, and they have also performed live on BBC Radio 3.

The orchestra has also provided music for film soundtracks, including The Master, Theeb, Slow West and Macbeth. In addition, the orchestra provided strings and chorus for Radiohead's A Moon Shaped Pool (2016).

At SPITFIRE AUDIO, we have made full use of the latest technology and know-how to successfully record both the unique playing techniques and the extremely exciting playing style of the LCO. We hope you enjoy this completely new library.
