SDX - AREA 33 is the first product in the Toontrack brand and was created by the original team that developed the original Drumkit From Hell, which recorded explosive sales. Fredrik Thordendal, guitarist for Meshuggah, and Daniel Bergstrand, producer/engineer/mixer (Behemoth, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir), were involved in the project. We thought about what the most comprehensive metal-oriented “SDX” for “SUPERIOR DRUMMER 3” would be like, and we completed this amazing library that spans 180GB.

SDX —AREA33 was recorded at “33”,” Fredrik Thordendal's studio in Stockholm, Sweden. The studio was built from the ground up by Fredrik and Daniel Bergstrand and designed to create a typical drum room with a spacious, reverberant feel while being deep, accurate, direct, and controlled.

This library contains seven contrasting and complementary kits, as well as a variety of additional drums and cymbals. Using Superior Drummer 3, you can refine, shape, and mold the sound of the live drums, providing you with a huge palette of possibilities. Some kits have up to eight toms, double bass drums, and 15 cymbal slots. Furthermore, this library was recorded using more than just conventional microphones.

Each kit was recorded using the classic close-miking technique, but in addition to this, we added one set of microphones to each position. In other words, each drum and cymbal was recorded with two types of microphone (mono and stereo) so that we could create a sound that goes beyond the imagination. Furthermore, 11 ambient microphones (7 of which are stereo) were recorded, giving you more options for expressing the atmosphere of the room. If you're looking for a virtual embodiment of “More is More” by two of the most influential artists in the history of modern metal, then add this library to your collection.
