■ Program Equalizer
■ Product Overview
Released in the 1960s, the PEQ-2 is a program equalizer that remains a valuable outboard piece of equipment even after more than 60 years.
Engineers who own existing units prefer it to the more popular Pultec program equalizer.
Both are passive EQs constructed with custom inductors and tone capacitors, but the PEQ-1 delivers a sharper, tighter response.
It's especially ideal for use on the mix bus.
The PEQ-2's front panel has a clear layout that makes it fun to use and easy to master.
Its very natural and musical frequency processing instantly brings your tracks to life.
Incidentally, compared to the Pultec's 14 options, the PEQ-2 offers approximately twice as many, with 26 frequency options. Unlike Pultec, LANG allows for boosting/cutting at different frequencies, making the low end easier to manage.
Independent controls for high-band boost/droop (cut) enable quick and creative adjustments to sources in ways never before considered.
The HF Boost Bandwidth control allows you to set the frequency range covered by the boost.
The LANG PEQ-2 program equalizer is a powerful and appealing processor for quickly adjusting source frequencies during recording, mixing, and mastering.
After more than 60 years, one of the most coveted equalizers is finally revived. Heritage Audio acquired LANG Electronics Inc., a 1960s professional audio company dedicated to producing high-quality gear at affordable prices. The PEQ-2 was the most notable model in their lineup.
Many professionals say they prefer this model to Pultec's program equalizers. Both are extremely high-quality passive equalizers featuring custom inductors and tone capacitors, patented by Western Electric. However, the PEQ-2 offers a sharper, tighter response, making it ideal for use on a mix bus where a loose sound can ruin the result.
The PEQ-2's clear layout makes it easy to master quickly. Its incredibly natural and musical frequency processing instantly improves your tracks.
