MOTOR SYNTH MKII is a unique synthesizer whose basic sound source is a motor oscillator engine. Because of the unique way the motor creates waveforms, it produces a one-of-a-kind sound that is neither analog nor digital.
■The world's only mechanical synthesizer
MOTOR SYNTH is a unique synthesizer whose basic sound source is a motor-oscillator engine: a system of eight electro-motors that instantly and accurately change rotation speed to produce sounds.
The sound of the MOTOR SYNTH has a unique sound that is neither analog nor digital, due to the unique way the motors create waveforms. However, the sound shaping capabilities developed by Gamechanger Audio engineers allow for the generation of a wide range of sounds, from classic synth sounds to realistic, near-instrumental sounds.
■Overview of MOTOR SYNTH MKII
The MOTOR SYNTH MKII has two oscillator voices with four-note polyphony that can be selected from three types of optical waveforms (Sine, Saw, Square) or electromagnetic waveform (M).
Each voice has five different controls, including VOLUME and SCALE, for a wide range of sound creation.
■Digital Oscillator and Flexible Voice Routing
A third DIGITAL VOICE (DCO) with completely independent control of all parameters, adjustable 4-note polyphony, and more.
A unique virtual analog oscillator and noise engine with wave shaping and multiple routing options allow you to create any voice routing you want.
■Performance Interface
In addition to eight keypads (note input, sequence input, and pattern input) and four rotary pitch encoders for editing note lengths and adjusting pitch, the instrument has a CLUTCH function (which temporarily disables parameter operations only when pressed).
Other features include an arpeggiator with four different patterns, an internal note sequencer engine, and a motion REC engine.

Voices
■Oscillator
・The MOTOR SYNTH MKII has two oscillator voices with four-note polyphony, selectable from three types of optical waveforms (Sine, Saw, Square) or electromagnetic waveforms (M).
・Parameters
Each voice has its own VOLUME, SCALE, WAVE, AMP ENVELOPE, and PITCH ENVELOPE controls. The AMP ENVELOPE allows you to select multiple modes (ADSR, AD, AR, DADSR, ADSHR) to adjust the curve, allowing you to create a wide range of sounds.
・Pitch Envelope
The MOTOR OSCILLATOR takes full advantage of the innovative PITCH ENVELOPE system to provide detailed control over the ACCELERATION and BRAKE functions.
■Analog Filter
Each motor voice has a fully independent analog filter with control over all parameters.
- 4 filter modes: 24dB low-pass, 12dB band-pass, 12dB high-pass, 24dB all-pass with self-oscillating resonance
- Analog drive circuitry
- Multiple selectable filter envelopes (ADSR, AD, AR, DADSR, ADSHR), adjustable CURVE parameters
- Key track engine with stepwise control of Amount, Direction, and Gride
■Modulation
MOTOR SYNTH features a flexible modulation section.
- Two destination slots (A, B) can be assigned to any parameter
- Extensive wave-shaping options for each LFO with MOD shape selector and detailed shape editing functions
- Uniquely adjustable clock sources and subdivisions for each modulation
- Multiple modulation envelopes to choose from (ADSR, AD, AR, DADSR, ADSHR), adjustable CURVE parameters
■MIDI & CV control
- MIDI IN & MIDI OUT connectors for sending and receiving note and clock information
- Multiple MOD wheels and channel pressure (MIDI aftertouch) slots can be assigned to any parameter via depth control
- Three CV inputs (3.5mm) can be assigned
- 3 trigger inputs (3.5mm) can be assigned
- USB for MIDI input/output and file transfer to MICRO SD card
■Inputs/Outputs
- Single TRS 1/4'' OUTPUT jack with adjustable split-voice routing (can also be used as MONO out)
- Two SEND/RETURN loop jacks (3.5 mm TRS) (for pre-VCF and post-VCA of each MOTOR voice)
- Headphone output
- 1 x MONO 1/4' INPUT jack for input signal processing
