Bringing the world of fantasy into reality
Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra is a brand new orchestra that includes all the elements needed to produce soundtracks for fantasy movies, TV shows, and games. Produced by Hollywood industry titans Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, the Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra is a unique ensemble of instruments from around the world that perfectly complements the Hollywood Orchestra, and features stereo imaging microphone positions and all the features of EastWest's innovative Opus player, providing a sound that looks great on large scale film and game titles.

Scoring an epic fantasy work or a medieval tale cannot be fully accomplished by simply adding period-appropriate solo instruments. - To bridge the gap between orchestral and traditional instruments of each country, EastWest has put all the necessary instruments on the same stage to create a completely new orchestra unlike any other.

Hollywood Fantasy Strings is the first step in the development of the Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra, a completely new style of performance by five of the most iconic instruments of the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque eras, as well as contemporary orchestral musicians It is designed to put you at your fingertips. True legato, diverse articulations, and everything else you need to create the perfect fantasy at a professional level, Fantasy Strings is made in the same studio as Hollywood Strings, with the same mic positions, the same power and flexibility and the perfect mix is made to order.

Ancient and Magnificent String Arrangements
The traditional celli are replaced by a viola da gamba ensemble and the violins by a hadinger fiddle ensemble. The lutes and dulcimers are recorded as a trio, creating a stereo image that shines as beautifully as any mix. Also included are hurdy-gurdy and heavy sounding classical string ensembles, recorded in octaves that add to the fantastic sound. All instruments use the same techniques and microphones as those used in the popular Hollywood Orchestra series, and were recorded at EastWest Studio 1, the same prestigious studio that has been responsible for the recording of numerous film, television, and video game soundtracks. The soundtrack is recorded at EastWest Studio 1, which has recorded many movie, TV and game soundtracks.

Setting the Mood
All instruments, from the most authentic to the most cinematic, are programmed in three different moods: Classic, Soft, and Epic. Four independent mic positions with mixable close, mid, main, and surround, with individual control of level and pan, allow you to manipulate the dimensions and ambience of your sound.

Coherence.
Fire-breathing dragons. Epic battles between kingdoms. Ancient magic bringing a thousand years of darkness... Whatever the scene, Hollywood Fantasy Orchestra has everything you need to bring it to life instantly. Supplemented with ancient or traditional folk strings from different countries to give the orchestra a realistic edge, the fantasy is beyond the composer's imagination.

Hadanger Fiddle
The iconic Norwegian hadanger fiddle resembles a violin, but its body construction and double strings give it a more lively glow and sometimes make it sound as if two violinists are playing at the same time. In contemporary music, some of the finest uses are Howard Shore's Rohan theme from “The Lord of the Rings” and Bear McCreery's traditional string arrangements from “God of War.” You can replace the violin for gorgeous, lyrical melodies or for a more Viking-esque feel.

3 Lute
Known as the favorite of many troubadours and singers in Renaissance folk music, the lute is an instrument that functions much like a 12-string guitar, but has a gentle character with an emphasis on the midrange. It has been used in countless soundtracks, including “The Tudors,” “Whisper of the Heart,” “Only Lovers Left Alive,” and the popular roguelike game “Hades. This 10-stringed instrument is also adept at playing the virtuosic and smooth chords of the viola da gamba and the Hardanger fiddle.

3 Viola da gamba
Many of you may have been exposed to the lively texture and tone of the viola da gamba, a bowed string instrument from the Baroque era and a symbol of the era. Similar in shape and tone to the cello, this rich instrument is the ancestor of the modern string ensemble. The viola da gamba may have been a relatively unfamiliar instrument until the film “Tous les Matins du Monde” featured a traveling viola virtuoso and its appearance on the soundtrack to Austin Wintory's “The Pathless,” among others. It is a great alternative to the cello, especially if you want to create a Baroque-era-like atmosphere!

LOW STRINGS 6 CELLI 4 BASSES
The reason Hollywood Fantasy Strings includes modern string instruments is because we need their power. Before the advent of string bass, low-frequency energy was virtually nonexistent in ensembles, but it has become an essential energy in modern soundtracks. It is employed as the perfect way to support fantasy string instruments with consistent style and tone, instantly expanding the range of the entire ensemble.

HIGH STRINGS 8 VIOLINS 6 VIOLAS
Because bass string instruments are not complete without a partner to play in the high range, violins and violas are also included in the mix. They blend perfectly with the other string instruments and provide powerful backing that allows the song to shine without the need for layers or complex production techniques.
