Genre/Instrument Specific EQ Modules
The EQ Ranger, inherited from SPL, was the go-to for quick and intuitive frequency processing for fast-moving studio professionals.
This sweet-sounding passive EQ design is based on the concept of selecting the optimal center frequency for each of the unit's eight bands, instantly paving the way to the right EQ settings for a particular source.
In the past, EQ Rangers Vol. 1 included three EQ modules with uniquely optimized frequency settings. Vox Ranger, Bass Ranger, and Full Ranger. These highly musical EQs allowed engineers to quickly set the frequency response of specific sources in the mix using carefully selected key bands.
Now, SPL has collaborated with Brainworx to take the EQ Ranger to the next level with the EQ Ranger Plus. With frequency band settings designed by Grammy Award-winning mixer/producer Craig Bauer and Brainworx founder Dirk Ulrich, EQ Ranger Plus offers a new wealth of optimal center frequency and bandwidth combinations.
These settings span six genres and 181 modules, dramatically expanding the source processing options in any mix. It's as if you have a studio rack full of 181 different 500 Series modules designed by top professionals for specific purposes.
For example, let's say you want to process dirty guitar riffs in a metal mix. You select “Metal” in the Genre menu, “Guitar Riffs” in the Source menu, and then select the “Metal/Guitar Riffs” module, and you instantly have a customized EQ for this purpose.
Do you need a kick cleanup and punchout in your electronic mixes?
Just select “Electronic” in the Genre menu and “Kick Heartbeat” in the Source menu, and you're good to go: a total of 181 modules in six genres, with custom EQs for nearly every situation.
It's like having a Grammy-winning engineer set up the EQ for you.
Not sure which module to choose?
Convenient navigation buttons take you step-by-step through each setting to find the module that best suits your sound.
Each module setting also includes presets for boost and cut per band, so you can see the intended gain settings behind each frequency selection and have a quick path to adjusting your sound.
In addition to the new module options, EQ Ranger Plus also includes three modules from the original plug-in (Vox, Bass, and Full Ranger). These classic modules offer sounds familiar to existing EQ Ranger users.
