Classic VCA compression tone


High-impact design
The original hardware Vertigo VSC-2 Quad Discrete Compressor established an impressive reputation due to the four custom hand-built discrete “1979” VCAs used in its design.
Unlike other VCA compressors, the VSC-2 features four discrete 1979 VCAs across two channels. This plug-in version of the VSC-2 reproduces all the nuances of the original hardware, bringing its smooth, clear, glossy, and accurate performance to your DAW.

The Power of Quad VCA
Each channel of the VSC-2 has one VCA in the audio path and another in the audio sidechain, allowing the VSC-2 to handle out-of-phase peaks without image shift. This compressor is one of the cleanest “coloring devices” available, ideal for precision applications such as mastering and mix-bus processing.

Multi-mode, multi-color
Although the VSC-2 was developed as a stereo bus compressor, each channel has its own complete set of controls, making the VSC-2 a dual-mono “must-have” in your mix. Additionally, a mono-specific plug-in version is available. The ratio control also offers unique and innovative features, such as a soft mode where the ratio control increases proportionally to amplitude for smoother compression.

Compression for both soft and hard modes
In Soft mode, VSC-2 starts with a low ratio of 1:1 and slowly and automatically increases to 8:1 as the signal strength increases. Thus, even very dynamic signals begin to compress almost inaudibly. Brick mode, on the other hand, turns the VSC-2 into an analog limiter, effectively cutting signal peaks, resulting in a tight, smooth tone and surprisingly even transients!
