Two plug-ins emulate SPL's analog hardware deessers

This collection includes two Analog Code plug-ins, emulating both the classic single-band and modern dual-band versions of SPL's analog hardware de-essers, considered the best in professional recording. As with the hardware version, no other deesser plug-in does the job so easily and accurately, while maintaining the character of the original source.

Conventional de-essers compress the frequency bands where essence is most likely to occur.
Without constant adjustment of the knobs, such a de-esser can result in a lispy or nasal vocal sound, especially on tracks with a lot of grinding.
SPL's Auto Dynamic De-Esser solves these problems by monitoring the entire frequency spectrum and automatically detecting the dental abrasion frequencies.

The bandwidth is set narrowly around the dental abrasion frequencies and adjacent frequencies are not affected.
This frequency band is phase inverted and mixed with the main signal to cancel out the sibilance. The result is very easy and accurate de-essing, preserving the original character and timbre of the voice even at high reduction settings.

The SPL De-Esser plug-in also includes features not found in the original hardware, such as an M/S stereo mode that allows de-essing the full mix without losing the high frequencies of cymbals, guitar, and keyboards. This makes SPL De-Esser a valuable tool during mastering.
