Mastering Grade EQ with 300V Tubes and Discrete JFET Signal Path


Twin Topology Technology
Twin Topology is Millennia's proprietary design technique that combines a twin amplifier using triode vacuum tubes and an all-discrete servo amplifier using JFETs (Junction Field Effect Transistors).
By switching the Twin Topology selection switch, you can choose between two very different EQ modes: vacuum tube mode and discrete JFET mode.

Tube EQ mode
In tube EQ mode (Twin Topology selection lamp unlit), you can expect a sound with a lot of character.
Kicks will sound round and full, and vocals will sound sweet as honey. In Tube EQ mode, you can also turn the NSEQ-2's Boost/Cut control to give your mixes that magical vibe.

Discrete JFET EQ Mode
The NSEQ-2's discrete JFET mode (Twin Topology selection lamp lit) delivers a more transparent sound compared to the tube mode. The NSEQ-2's discrete JFET mode is a powerful tool when you want to boost the top end while preserving the character of the strings, or when you want to carefully adjust the delicate and realistic midrange of the entire mix.

The Swiss Army Knife for Mixing and Mastering Engineers
The NSEQ-2 is arguably the world's most sonically neutral parametric analog EQ when used in JFET mode.
With the NSEQ-2, as long as the boost/cut control is set to zero, no sonic characteristics are detected when the EQ bands are present in the circuit. The contrast between tube mode and JFET mode also makes the NSEQ-2 a versatile EQ ideal for mixing and mastering.
