Next-generation stereo panoramic discrete EQ


Brainworx, a leading developer of mid- and side-mixing tools, has once again introduced a game changer. That is bx_panEQ. This next-generation spatial equalizer will forever change the way you build and shape stereo tracks.

Imagine EQing a crash cymbal buried in a pre-recorded stereo mix without affecting instruments panned to other positions on the soundstage. bx_panEQ provides a comprehensive view of the stereo spatialization of content and intuitive visual controls to and helps you shape the stereo field to your liking. This is an entirely new approach to stereo spatial processing.

At the heart of bx_panEQ is the Focus control for each filter. This control adjusts how much of the filter's effect is spread across the stereo panorama, allowing for everything from broad strokes to precise adjustments to the mix. api-style proportional Q design increases the Q factor as the gain is increased or decreased from 0 dB, allowing for EQ pinpoints fine-tuning, allowing for more precise adjustments.
A solo button for each band allows the user to audition the pure differences in the signal to determine the exact change in frequency response.

The panoramic spectrum analyzer also displays EQ boost and cut amplitudes in the stereo field and frequency spectrum in real time, allowing intuitive operation while accurately showing the stereo width and frequency response blend. From this display, the stereo position and relative gain of each band can be adjusted directly, which is useful for automation recording and on-the-fly adjustments. In addition, bx_panEQ is the first Brainworx plug-in to feature a resizable interface, allowing users to increase the size of the analyzer and work comfortably on larger displays.

The power that bx_panEQ unleashes in mixing and mastering applications is enormous. On an acoustic guitar stereo track, you can boost progressively higher frequencies in the left-to-right pan position to widen the track.
In a live concert stereo mix, boomy guitars can be adjusted without affecting the rest of the stereo field.
Mastering engineers can individually equalize local spectral imbalances to correct biased mixes. Music producers can automate bands to get unique and interesting stereo filter effects across the spectrum analyzer.
The applications for bx_panEQ are endless.
