Created in 1978 by legendary studio engineer Townhouse, this one-of-a-kind compressor was built using classic console parts supplied by Solid State Logic (SSL).

bx_townhouse Buss Compressor is the ultimate companion for mixed basses, offering just a little more feel and magic than the standard British console bus compressor.
Many existing plug-ins have been modeled after the G-series version of the SSL compressor, but none have attempted to capture the early SSL bus compressor sound, despite being a favorite of sound engineers.
Brainworx has obtained exclusive access to this rare circuit and has taken on the challenge of recreating the sound of the classic SSL compressor.

Shortly after taking delivery of the new SSL 4000 B-Series console, the Townhouse staff asked SSL to sell a stand-alone version of the console's center section compressor.
However, SSL did not sell a stand-alone version and would not do so for the next 10 years.
So they struck a deal with SSL to buy the individual components from SSL themselves and build their own modified version based on SSL's schematics.
This is the custom-built "Townhouse Toy" that they love so much, and while the Townhouse has undergone many upgrades over the years, one important detail has remained consistently the same.

It's even more unique than the typical bass compressor plug-in.
Many boutique hardware manufacturers have taken note of the sound of the early SSL bass compressors. But until now, no software emulation has been designed to replicate the old, colorful SSL bass compressor sound.
With bx_Townhouse on the bus, you can immediately put it to work and get wonderfully colorful results that will make any "boxed" mix feel more analog.
