Classic EQ in a modern design


Based on the first parametric equalizer that started it all, the AMEK EQ 200 is a beautifully transparent equalizer inspired by the classic sounds of icons like the GML 8200 and vintage SONTEC EQs.
The first product under the AMEK brand, the EQ 200 is modeled after the most coveted hardware EQ ever designed.

Brainworx's goal with the EQ 200 was to build on years of experience in analog modeling to develop a plug-in that captures the DNA of the most legendary parametric equalizers of the 70s and 80s and recreates their unique sound.

This era saw the introduction of paradigm-shifting new EQ designs from brands such as SONTEC and GML, which offered revolutionary new features, including parametric controls that allowed users to adjust the center frequency and bandwidth of each band. These features are now standard in EQs, but at the time they were truly an “audio revolution.

The extraordinary resolution, extreme transparency, enormous headroom, and surgical precision of the mastering-grade EQs of the '70s and '80s would go on to inspire many later equalizer designs. And for many top engineers, these original parametric EQs are still considered unrivaled tools today.

These early high-end parametric equalizers were born during the great era of pop and rock music and have lived on as true industry standards for more than 30 years since. Today, they can still be heard on countless major recordings and are actively used in many of the best mixing/mastering studios on the planet.

The AMEK EQ 200 Plugin was inspired by the sound of Brainworx founder Dirk Ulrich's GML 8200 EQ and vintage SONTEC EQs, which are also some of his favorite analog outboard gear.

However, Dirk and the Brainworx modeling team went a step further and enhanced the original design with a number of features, including an innovative auto-listening function, variable high-pass and low-pass filters, M/S processing, and their groundbreaking patented TMT (Tolerance Modeling Technology) technology. They decided to enhance the original design with a number of features to provide unparalleled analog flow in the box.

With these additional features, AMEK EQ 200 gives you everything you need to achieve the brilliant sound and intuitive workflow of the best vintage EQs in your DAW.

The AMEK EQ 200 plug-in is a complete 7-band EQ with 5 parametric bands plus high and low pass filters.
It operates in stereo, dual-mono, mono, and M/S modes; the five bands can be boosted or cut by up to 15 dB, with a bandwidth (or Q) control from 0.4 to 4.
