Hybrid maple shell The hybrid shell construction is inherited from Yamaha's top-of-the-line P.H.X. series drums. The core material in the center of the shell is high-strength wenge from Africa, sandwiched between maple on both sides. This hybrid construction adds a complex, heavy sound to the bright, warm sound that is the hallmark of maple and provides a wide dynamic range from the midrange to the bass register. Absolut Hybrid Maple clearly expresses the sound sought by drummers from pianissimo (pp) to fortissimo (ff).

Hook lugs
All shells have hook lugs. This allows for easy and speedy head changes, as well as robust and accurate tuning for high-tension tuning. The lug bases are designed to minimize the ground surface, maximizing shell sound.

YESS III shell mounting system
The "Y.E.S.S. II-m" model was developed from Yamaha's original tom-mount system Y.E.S.S. (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System). It has a new tom mount system, "Y.E.S.S. III," that has evolved further from it. A resin plate is used to produce natural and extended sustain without disturbing the shell sound as much as possible.

Newly designed tom holder base.
Has a newly designed tom holder base that is lightweight and has a reduced ground contact area. It maximizes the shell sound of the bass drum.

Bearing edge shape
In order to optimally control the tone of the entire drum set, a uniquely shaped bearing edge has been adopted for each of the bass drums, floor tom, tom-tom, and snare. The floor tom/tom tom/snare drum has a 45°/R1.5* edge shape. The bass drum has a 30°/R1.5 sharp-edged edge for a massive and powerful bass sound.

Vent holes
The vent holes, which allow air to escape from the shell, are an essential element in determining the feel of the sound. To control the rise of sound and the appropriate length of sustain, we have considered the optimal number and placement of vent holes according to the shell size.
