Curiosity and Inquisitiveness Selected for Cutting-Edge Analog and Digital Components
As with previous Symphony series products, Symphony Desktop uses state-of-the-art analog and digital components selected with the utmost care and attention by expert, discerning ears. Symphony Desktop is the culmination of Apogee's core mission to design the highest-quality audio interface. While some products rely on conventional designs to reduce costs, Apogee strives for innovative components and circuit optimization to improve product performance consistently.
A/D Conversion - Capture Every Nuance Faithfully
Like the Symphony I/O MkII, the Symphony Desktop's analog-to-digital converter stage has an ultra-low distortion, high slew rate, fully differential analog operational amplifier, as well as a state-of-the-art A/D converter in a performance-enhancing dual sum configuration. All of this is done with the full potential of the analog inputs. All of this is done to ensure that every nuance of the analog input is faithfully reproduced in the digital domain.
D/A Conversion - High-resolution "widescreen" in the mix
The Symphony Desktop's digital-to-analog stage employs the latest technologies, including stable, ultra-low distortion, and high-current output drivers, to deliver uncompromised Symphony DAC performance in a portable product. Regardless of the device to which it is connected, Symphony Desktop provides an infinitely transparent widescreen window into the soundscape of your mix.
Microphone Preamps - Their Superior Performance
At the heart of the Symphony Desktop's microphone input stage is a microphone preamplifier that provides up to 75 dB of gain. This is achieved using Apogee's proprietary Advanced Stepped Gain Architecture, which delivers ultra-low noise and low distortion on all sources, from the pounding kick drum to the delicate fingerpicking of an acoustic guitar. Symphony Desktop supports variable impedance, automatically optimizing the input stage to the specific device for both microphones and instruments, from subdued lows to vibrant highs. In addition, mic preamp emulation can be selected to add character, attitude, and roughness to your recordings.
Headphone Output
Symphony Desktop has two independent, ultra-low impedance headphone outputs. They have dual-sam ESS DACs and can be routed entirely separately. The range of each output is adjusted according to the headphones expected. The front panel outputs can drive just about any headphone, whereas the rear panel outputs are tuned explicitly for high-efficiency headphones.

Sonarworks SoundID Reference for Speakers & Headphones with Measurement Microphone
The SoundID Reference eliminates the problem of monitor accuracy and dramatically improves compatibility with other speaker systems.
The world's only acoustic correction solution for speakers/headphones and all PC outputs
Sound reproduction is affected by the shape and material of the room, its effect on the monitors and speakers, and the characteristics of the headphones. SoundID Reference eliminates the problem of monitor accuracy and dramatically improves compatibility with other speaker systems.
SoundID Reference consists of measurement software and a calibration plugin that runs on the DAW. Its advanced DSP neutralizes room effects on monitor speakers and flattens headphones, providing a more reliable reference sound.
