About Waves SoundGrid
Waves SoundGrid is a professional audio specification platform for innovative networking and processing in real time. Whether in the studio, live sound, broadcast, or post-production, SoundGrid provides an audio processing environment with infinitely low latency and high definition. When combined with the company's DSP servers, a Mac or PC, and Symphony I/O Mk II, SoundGrid offers the widest selection of Waves plug-ins, including award-winning EQs, reverbs, and compressors, as well as the most advanced audio processing technologies available, including Sonnox, Flux:: and other SoundGrid-compatible third-party plug-ins in real-time.
Legendary Sound Quality
Symphony I/O Mk II is a multi-channel audio interface with Apogee's latest flagship AD/DA converter. It features various I/O modules for up to 32 inputs and outputs, an intuitive touchscreen display, and the ability to add world-class mic pre-options.
With the sound quality demanded by professionals in audio recording, mixing, and mastering, Symphony I/O Mk II will become the ultimate and most important device for any music production in the modern studio. In addition, Symphony I/O Mk II offers direct connectivity to three completely different platforms - Thunderbolt, Pro Tools HD, and the Waves SoundGrid network.
Front Panel Touchscreen for Versatile Control
All essential Symphony I/O Mk II input and output settings can be made via the front panel touchscreen. You can select inputs, adjust monitor levels and mic pre-gain, and even calibrate the Symphony I/O Mk II to match other analog devices.
The high-definition TFT display provides the visual feedback that is paramount for recording and monitoring. Without the need to look at a computer screen, the Symphony I/O Mk II provides meters, signal level, phase, mute, phantom, and soft limit settings for all 64 channels (32IN - 32OUT).
Flexible Input/Output Options
Symphony I/O Mk II is the solution for any user. From home studios, project studios, and commercial recording to score recording, choose from four base I/O configurations: 2 x 6, 8 x 8, 16 x 16, and 8 x 8 + mic pre, and quickly expand later to suit your studio size. Module slots can have AD/DA converters supporting up to 32 inputs and outputs. Compared to interfaces in the same category, Symphony I/O Mk II offers the best value per channel.
Why do you need a good quality AD/DA converter?
Even if you use a vintage Neve console, a Nuemann microphone in excellent condition, and a variety of microphone preamps for recording, a high-quality AD converter is always necessary to capture the delicate nuances of analog equipment in a DAW. Without such a converter, much of the fine detail is lost and cannot be added later with any plug-in. Similarly, a sound DA stage is also essential for accurate perception of the recorded audio tracks. Regardless of the speakers used in the mixing, if the converters are masking or coloring the audio in any way, they are applying too much compression, EQ, and other effects and missing details that could be resolved.
With Symphony I/O Mk II, it is much easier to get a clearer picture of each track and the composition of the mix, to make intelligent adjustments, and to achieve the ideal balance.
