Tomofon features the unique ability to process vast amounts of waveforms extracted from real audio and the innovative "Audio Model" format. Whether you play with the included Audio Model starter pack (instruments and voices) and presets or import your audio to shape your soundscapes, Tomofon will take you on a creative journey.

There are already plenty of synthesizers and samplers out there, so why this one?
Simply put, Tomofon is not a sampler. Tomofon itself is conceived as a musical instrument and is not necessarily intended to imitate real instruments or voices. Tomofon introduces the newly developed "Audio Model" format, which seamlessly morphs between layers of complexity that can be built independently and sections of vast amounts of real waveforms. This makes it an organic yet out-of-this-world, instantly playable synthesizer. Tomofon's possibilities for sound design are vast and multi-layered, bringing new life to the desktop.

How it works
Tomofon imports audio files into a number of wave sets and maps the waveforms to pitch zones. (A bit like the structure of a sampler that expands over different velocity zones, perhaps.) The main difference is that each zone has waves instead of regular samples, allowing the synth engine to morph between them (both layers and zones). This allows all transitions between zones and layers to work continuously and seamlessly. The structure containing the organized wavetables, which Klevgrand named the "Audio Model," gives Tomofon its dynamic characteristics and distinctive sound.

Create and Share Your Sound
An essential feature of Tomofon is that users can import their audio files and create new and unique "Audio Models. Regular audio files (preferably with monophonic content) can be easily imported automatically or manually and mapped to various pitch zones on the keyboard. Performing an automatic import is essentially a one-click process that immediately generates a playable "Audio Model" as appropriate. Handling a manual import gives the user complete control over which waves are assigned to which pitch zones. Finally, it supports sharing the "Audio Models" created by the user with other users.

What's Built into Tomofon v1.0
Tomofon comes preloaded with a pack of 124 Audio Models, with over 180 presets available for download. In addition, you can tune existing Audio Models and start using the plug-in's built-in editor to import your own sounds and perform various crafting tasks. Stay tuned for future releases, as Klevgrand plans to add more instruments (Audio Model packs and presets).

Over 180 presets
Individually controllable envelope time via MIDI velocity
Unique LFO (random sample and hold)
Modulation matrix (2 x MIDI CC, velocity, keymap)
Monophonic playback with separate pitch and velocity glide times
Polyphonic legato playback, where the initiated note is synchronized with the currently playing envelope
Up to four doubling voices with individual pitch, pan, and level
Filters for modulation
Post-reverb, delay, and EQ

* Works with macOS 10.10 or later (M1-processor compatible), Windows 7 (SP1) or later, 64-bit host compatible with AU, VST3, and AAX plug-in formats.

Synth section

1. super modeling
Overview of the loaded Audio Model and the currently playing tone (indicated by yellow dots)
2. matrix
The matrix sets how much each controller (top) modulates each target (right). 3.
3. Enveloope
The Envelope section allows you to set the attack, decay, loop, and release behavior of each note. There are envelopes for gain, depth, pitch, and filter.
4. more and more fun
In addition, some envelopes have additional functions for modulating the envelope.
5. ready, preset, go
While we encourage you to create your sounds with Tomofon, there are various presets available beforehand.

Audio Model Editor

1. follow your flow
If any audio file is imported, Tomofon will extract and organize it into playable waves. If you want more control over this process, you can manually manage the import in several different ways. 2.
2. pave the way for the wave
Each pitch zone has a wavetable that can be edited in several different ways.
Audio model navigator
A visual representation of the audio model shows the different pitch zones as columns, with the Y-axis representing the depth of the waveform. 4.
4. wavetable Actions
A convenient function to quickly manage the selected wavetable.

How Audio Model works

1. audio material
A standard audio file is imported into Tomofon. In this example, a male singer changes formants within a note. 2.
2. single waveform
This is an enlarged version of the same audio file as above, where a single cycle (in yellow) is extracted into a single waveform.
3. wave table
This process splits the sampled audio into hundreds of waveforms and creates a single wavetable. In effect, it is like a reconstruction of the original audio.
Audio Model
The wavetable is mapped to the pitch zone of the keyboard in several octaves.

Real Audio Synthesis
Who is Tomofon?
We have just announced our most significant and boldest plug-in to date, Tomofon. So, what is it? As the tagline "Real Audio Synthesis" suggests, it is a synthesizer. In many ways, it works and plays like a synthesizer, which is very good. But what really punches through Tomofon is the quirky synthesis at its core: natural audio synthesis.
