Natural inspiration.

Borsta (Swedish for "brushing verb") has developed a unique audio engine that provides natural-sounding brushing phrases and rhythms with endless possibilities.

What sets Borsta apart from other similar instruments is that the audio engine "supports continuous changes in intensity. This creates realistic brushed phrases and patterns that cannot easily be achieved with regular sample-based instruments.

Parallel envelopes and event sequencers can be used to determine precisely when to start a stroke, how the pressure/speed of a stroke changes over time, or when to end a stroke. In addition, each instrument also offers multi-sampled one-shots with advanced choke capabilities.

Each instrument is based on over 400 high-quality samples, recorded to play at various velocities and round robins. While the initial version of Borsta comes with 18 different instruments, each instance of the plug-in emulates one drum instrument at a time. However, switching between sequences can be done seamlessly via MIDI, and additional one-shot samples can be triggered using regular MIDI tracks.

Because all instruments are structured and MIDI mapped uniformly, the same sequence can be used with any instrument. For example, a traditional swing pattern will play musically correctly whether you choose a frame drum, tambourine, or snare drum, replacing the sound intuitively as if the musician had changed instruments.
