The world's first time machine
Continuing the legacy of the H910 pitch shifter, the H949 was Eventide's first de-glitching pitch shifter. Manufactured from 1977 to 1984, the H949 introduced the MicroPitch, a proprietary single-sideband modulation technology that precisely controlled small pitch shifts. The H949 featured unique effects such as flange, reverse, and random Pitch.
Here is how it was described at the time of its introduction
A digital delay line, a pitch changer, and an all-purpose special effects unit, "TIME REVERSAL" is an entirely new feature. Using the Harmonizer R as a variable speed tape recorder, program material can be shortened or lengthened in time without changing Pitch.
All the features of H949, Jimmy Page's favorite, and Suzanne Ciani's favorite, are reproduced in this plug-in. From basic engineering and sound sculpting tasks to the creation of demonic space robots, H949 is built to inspire.
The H949 plug-in is also included in the Clockworks bundle and the Anthology XI bundle.
Versatile usage
Create perfect harmonies, unique pitches, and wacky effects. Fatten a snare, take a synth out of tune, spread out a guitar, or create a compelling vocal to tighten up a mix. Spice up a guitar solo with a delayed reverse sweep, turn a solo vocalist into a group of backing singers, or send a synth into a flanged-out dub hole for another dimension.
■ Pitch Change with Deglitching
The H949's algorithm uses a proprietary auto-correlation algorithm to make intelligent splicing decisions. The user can "dumb down" this algorithm. Selecting the simple crossfade algorithm produces a characteristic glitch.
■Turning the knob
This old-school "UI" allows the user to create the desired sound by simply turning a knob.
Double Down
This native plug-in version also includes the H949 Dual, which recreates the popular technique of placing two units in parallel. It allows for rich doubling, stereo widening, and pitch up/down at the same time.
■Features
Multi-effect harmonizer with deglitching.
Random and reverse delays.
Micro Pitch with small pitch intervals.
Reverse pitch shift.
Combination of digital delay, pitch changer, and comprehensive special effects unit.
The H949 Dual has stereo widening, doubling, and reverse link pitch changes.
