- Optical and discrete two-stage compression for unprecedented dynamics control

One of the main advantages of the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor is that it processes your signal with dual stages of compression. The optical section has traditional threshold and gain settings, with a two-stage release time like we see on the LA-2A. Use it to easily shape the dynamic range and raise the overall level.

Then the VCA Discrete section gives you more precise control over the ratio, attack and release settings, allowing you to fine-tune the compression response to suit a wide variety of material.

・Switchable output transformers for a wider range of tones
Three unique output transformers make it easy to build additional tonal character.

Choose from Steel, Nickel and Iron to add a unique flavor often found in legendary consoles.

Nickel provides a smooth low end and a refined top end, making it the perfect sound for more sensitive recordings.

Iron is a more sexy sound, but maintains the high end and boosts the low end a little in the 100Hz range. This transformer leaves a very musical sound.

Finally, the Steel transformer has a very detailed and fast response, with a subtle boost in the 40Hz range, helping to achieve a rock-hard low end.
