A vacuum tube compressor born from a new collaboration between CHANDLER LIMITED and ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS.
Fairchild 660 A new frontier for compressors.
Co-developed with Abbey Road Studios.
The RS660 is a transformer-balanced vacuum tube compressor/limiter. It is also possible to link two units together in a mono configuration.
EMI Abbey Road Studios and Chandler Limited have expanded the essence of the historic compressor ""Fairchild 660"" into the most sophisticated analog sound of the modern era. The RS660, which was completed by combining the technical advantages of the ""EMI RS124"", has the flexibility to control a variety of dynamic sources in addition to the classic sound.
Since the Fairchild 660 compressor was first installed at EMI's Abbey Road Studios in 1964, Fairchild was used for most of The Beatles' vocal and drum recordings. The Fairchild 660, which has a different atmosphere from the stereo 670, is highly regarded for its unique sound quality and responsiveness. The Fairchild 660's sound gives vocals a special presence, and Ringo's upside-down cymbal sound still sounds fresh to my ears.
The RS660 is the official outboard gear of EMI/Abbey Road Studios in the UK, evolving the Fairchild 660-style analog sound for a new generation of recording, mixing, and mastering engineers.
*This is a matched pair (2 units) package.
