Make Noise / Mimeophon

Mimeophone morphs between five different modes to create a variety of stereo echo delays.

Mimeophone is a stereo audio repeater that emulates a full spectrum response. It produces a wide range of echo/delay sounds, from oil can echo, to warm BBD, mid-crunch BBD, tape echo, crispy clean delay, to blazing hot early digital delay lines. It was coded by soundhack programmer Tom Erbe and was created in collaboration between Make Noise and soundhack.

The name Mimeophon (from the Greek mimeo (repeat/copy) and phon (sound)) is named after various historical copying devices, especially the ""mimeograph"", a machine invented by Thomas Edison in the late 19th century to mass-produce copies of printed matter. In the 20th century, many visual artists used such machines to create visual collage-style works with repetitive compositions, often referred to as xeroxes or copy art. Mimeophon opens up similar possibilities in music: you can modulate and morph the time scale of the repeated sounds, from very short micro sounds to phrase-length sounds, and even color and spatialize the repeats.
