SP-B-02NT Lockable Bridge Titanium Saddle Nickel Lefty is a guitar bridge (Lefty) that is a unique improvement of the ABR-1 type, a classic specification of the TUNE-O-MATIC bridges that have been installed on GIBSON guitars. FreedomCGR "Lockable Bridge" was designed to improve the major structural weakness of the ABR-1 type bridge and to improve "functionality" and "sound quality dramatically." The weight of the "Lockable Bridge" is almost the same as that of the ABR-1 to minimize the weight effect on the tone quality of the ABR-1.
Setting up for string changes
In the ABR-1, the bridge and the thumb nut for adjusting the string height are held in place only by the tension of the strings, so when the strings are loosened, the bridge loses its holding power and comes off easily. This results in having to readjust the string height every time you change the strings.
Resonance of parts
The bridge saddle, which is in contact with the strings, is only held in place by a retainer (wire) and is not fully secured, so when the strings are plucked, the saddle may vibrate, causing resonance and unwanted vibration noise. This unwanted resonance can spoil the natural string vibration and rob the guitar's sound and sustain.
In the FreedomCGR "Lockable Bridge," the following three improvements have been made.
1. The bridge body is completely fixed with a locking cap.
2. Instead of a retainer, the saddle is semi-fixed with an octave adjustment screw.
3. "Resin washers" are used for the bearings of the octave adjustment screws to semi-fix the octave adjustment screws.
This three-stage construction eliminates rattling between the parts and the bridge body and also allows the bridge to be mounted in the same way as the saddle,
